Porcelain Veneers
Dacula, GA

Rendering of jaw with porcelain veneer on tooth from Lanier Valley Dentistry in Dacula, GAYour teeth do a lot for you every single day. While many of the jobs your teeth have are functional (biting, chewing, airflow control for speech), they also have an important aesthetic job. When your teeth are straight, pearly white, and blemish-free, you are provided with a beautiful smile that you are proud to show off. However, even the most minor flaws in your teeth can impact its beauty, and negatively impact your confidence. At Lanier Valley Dentistry, we can help to fix minor imperfections with porcelain veneers.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin “shells” that are used to cover the front area of damaged teeth. Once placed, they effectively cover over the imperfections, obscuring them completely from view. With porcelain veneers, your smile can be transformed, your confidence will be restored, and no one will ever be the wiser.

Who are Veneers For?

Porcelain veneers are designed for patients who are suffering from minor imperfections in their teeth. They can be used to correct a variety of different flaws, including:
•  Small chips and fractures. These imperfections only affect the enamel layer of the teeth (otherwise, restorations such as crowns may be required).
•  Gaps between your teeth.
•  Minor overlapping of the teeth that does not affect your oral health or the functions of your mouth.
•  Misshapen or small teeth (for example, peg teeth).
•  Discoloration that cannot be remedied, even with professional treatments.

How are Veneers Placed?

The procedure for getting porcelain veneers is fairly straightforward and takes two separate visits to complete. During your first appointment, we need to prepare the affected teeth for their veneers. Preparation involves removing a very small amount of the enamel from the surfaces of the affected teeth, generally done under a local anesthetic. Removing this enamel is critical to ensure a natural, comfortable fit. Next, impressions are taken of the mouth, which is used to create your custom veneers. Finally, during your second visit, the veneers are set in place. This process involves the use of an acid etch, which creates a rough texture on the surface of your teeth. With this texture, the bond between your veneers and the natural tooth can be made stronger.

Why Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers can typically be made from one of two materials – composite resin or porcelain. At Lanier Valley Dentistry, we use porcelain veneers. Porcelain is the preferred material for a few different reasons. For one, it is stronger than composite resin and can withstand most normal use. Porcelain also provides a much more natural appearance, with the ability to perfectly mimic the color of your natural teeth as well as mimic the light reflecting properties of enamel.
These are not the only advantages of porcelain veneers. Other advantages include:
•  Porcelain is stain resistant.
•  Porcelain is biocompatible. This means that the material will not irritate your sensitive gum tissue.
•  Because porcelain is stronger, it will last longer. With proper care of your porcelain veneers, they can last 15 years or more.
•  Because porcelain provides a more natural appearance, your smile is perfectly restored, which can help to give you back your confidence.

Even minor flaws can have a major impact on your smile, and your confidence level. Contact Lanier Valley Dentistry today at (678) 802-8654 to learn more and find out if porcelain veneers are right for you.
