Dental Veneers
Dacula, GA

We at Lanier Valley Dentistry are ever ready to fix veneers for you. Veneers are wafer-thin shells attached to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance in color, shape, size or length. They are also referred to as dental porcelain laminates or porcelain veneers.

Our dentists at Lanier Valley Dentistry recommend veneers for a variety of dental issues; broken or chipped teeth, worn down teeth, teeth with large gaps, irregularly shaped or uneven teeth. Veneers also fix tooth discoloration gotten from drugs, stain-causing foods, and beverages, excess resin fillings, etc.

What Are Veneers Made Of?

Veneers are made from resin composite materials or porcelain. Veneers from both materials are good and able to enhance the teeth appearance. However, porcelain veneers are better at mimicking the overall appearance and properties of natural teeth and resisting stains than resin veneers.

You should, however, get medical advice before you decide on the type of veneer you want. This is very important so you can speak with us for proper guidance.

What Is The Procedure For Veneers

A dental veneer is quite easy to get, although it takes about two to three trips to our clinic. Your first trip is for consultation with our dentist, and the other two are to make and apply your veneers. You explain your condition to our dentists, and they do the necessary examination and set the process in motion.

Next, the dentist will trim off about ½ millimeter of enamel off the surface of your teeth. This is about the amount of thickness the veneer will take. After the trimming, we will make a model of your teeth and send it to a dental laboratory that will construct your veneer. After about two to four weeks, your veneer will be ready.

Process

Our dentist will place the veneer on your tooth, removing and trimming until he/she gets the perfect fit. Your teeth get cleaned and etched to give it a rough surface that will enhance bonding. After this, a special cement bonds the veneer to your tooth and a special light beam will harden it quickly. Finally, the veneer is adjusted and evaluated, and excess cement removed. Our dentist may ask you to return in a few weeks for proper monitoring and general examination.

Oral Hygiene

Maintaining oral hygiene after getting veneers is very important. You should keep up quality hygiene practices like flossing, brushing, rinsing, and use of antiseptic mouthwash. Regular visits to the dentist are also of the essence. Our dentist may tell that you should not take foods and beverages that may stain your teeth like red wine and coffee. In situations where you have to consume these foods and beverages, you should wash your mouth immediately.
