Dental Technology

X-Guide NavigationAt Lanier Valley Dentistry, we utilize the latest techniques and cutting-edge technology to provide you with superior prosthodontic care. If you are looking for state-of-the-art restorative treatments, you have come to the right place!

Digital Radiography

Digital Radiography is the next step in medical imagery. Instead of using traditional x-ray film to take one frame at a time, digital radiography takes x-rays and records the resulting image in real-time on a digital capture device. These can then be shown on display for you and our dentist to see. This technique rivals MRI and CAT scan in their ability to scan and give a clear, convenient image of your body. This aids our experts in diagnosis and treatment immensely.

CT Scanner

An x-ray is one of the most common diagnostic tools we use today. However, an x-ray may not provide us with enough information to accurately diagnose and treat potential problems. In this case, we may order a CBCT scan to gather a more comprehensive understanding of your oral health. A CT scanner gives us a 3D view of your soft tissues, teeth, and underlying bone.

3D Scanner, X-guide, and Digital Impressions

3D scanning technology has revolutionized the way we restore damaged or missing teeth. During your treatment planning, we may use iTero intraoral scanning technology to produce a digital impression of your teeth and gums. These days, digital impressions are more accurate and precise than ever before.

3D technology is particularly useful when it comes to the placement of Dental Implants. We may use a 3D navigational system known as “X-guide” to improve the precision of your implant’s position, angle, and depth. X-guide is compatible with CBCT scanning technology and has become a standard part of implant treatment.

Just as X-guide has changed implant treatment, CEREC has transformed the way we fabricate restorations. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. In other words, the CEREC system allows us to design and fabricate restorations in a single appointment.

Traditional restorations, such as dental crowns, typically require a minimum of two appointments: one to prepare the tooth and one to place the crown. With CEREC, we can prepare the tooth and place the crown during the same appointment. This process involves the use of CAD/CAM software and a chairside milling unit.

DNA Bacteria Detection and Oral Pathology

Periodontal disease is the result of a bacterial infection that spreads to the soft tissues, connective ligaments, and underlying bone. However, not everyone develops the same type of periodontal infection. There is a wide variety of bacteria that cause problems for your teeth and gums.

We may order a bacterial DNA test to help diagnose the cause of your infection. Determining which bacteria are present allows us to streamline your treatment and provide more effective results. This approach is a part of oral pathology, which is concerned with the diagnosis and study of diseases that affect your oral and maxillofacial health.

Platelet-Rich Plasma and Platelet-Rich Fibrin

If you need a bone or soft tissue graft, we may recommend the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). Both of these substances are made using the platelets in your blood that are largely responsible for wound healing. By applying PRP or PRF to a surgical site, we can foster better tissue regeneration and expedite the healing process.

Laser Dentistry

Here at Lanier Valley Dentistry you can benefit from the latest and most modern laser treatments. Laser dentistry has many benefits and can be used in many procedures. Treatment is much faster and more comfortable, healing time is shorter, and most procedures don’t require anesthesia.
